　　凌峰失意与百货业，转作金融投资，希望自己策划的投资计划，能有朝一日推销给一富家，令其一夜发达。乐言在马场遇上芷晴，见她豪赌成性，挥金如土，劝她纵然家财亿万，也不应如此挥霍。芷晴初次受人苦口婆心相劝，对乐言另眼相看。乐言千心万苦，研究改革伞厂的计划，向济民力陈厉害。济民认为此计划亦有可取之处，鼓励乐言实行。乐言大为鼓舞。芷晴接受乐言劝告，决到起其父公司上班，可惜缺乏恒心。凌峰遇上芷晴，认定此为极好的黄金机会，遂毛遂自荐向芷晴推销投资计划，芷晴答应投资。凌峰巧逢股灾，损失惨重，向程真声言为帮朋友，向她借钱，更骗得乐言把改革伞茶厂的资金给了他，然后拿此数向芷晴冒认投资获利，深得她赞赏。芷晴因此事一扫以往遭家人白眼看待。济民发现乐言亏空公款，大肆质问。乐言为着情义，绝口不提，令济民更为愤怒。
